Hi,
I have a brans new Texecom Veritas 8, wired one PIR and one remote control panel.

Works fine when I kick start and power by battery, however, when i apply
mains power the mcb trips.

I have just received a replacement transformer and tried this but same problem happened.

The transformer says 230v 0,10a 50-60 Hz Fuse 0,125A

Runs via unswithed fused spur, using 2.5 m twin and earch. The main fuse
board and main RCD that trips say RCD VR80 80A 30ma.

As the whole unit works fine on battery power and I have tried another Texecom transformer Im lost on what to try next.

Any suggestions very welcome....

Regards

I have found in the past that occasionaly these panels blow a 3amp 1362 fuse in the FCU on start up.

What rating MCB?? B6?? Would be unusual - but possible. Try uprating this MCB - on 2.5, yo could use a B20 with out worries on most installs.

try plugging it in somewhere else (temp) for an mcb to trip its either too much current being drawn, or a dead short

meter the resistance of the primary side of the coil what is its resistance, and if you haventy got a meter whay are you fitting an alarm and electrical work without one?

try wireing something like a lamp from the fused spur temporary (take the plug off and connect it in) and tell us whether the RCD trips with that connected instead of the alarm panel

Thanks guys,
Im not sure on the MCB rating as there are no labels (the spur was wired up by my electrician so i will ask) the only labels were the main RCD rating as quoted.

I'll try wiring up something else to see if this has the same effect and report back !!

Regards

As the veritas 8 has a T125mA fuse before the transformer it is very unlikely the transformer causing an overcurrent trip, you don't say if this fuse has blown.
It hasn't been wired to the incorrect neutral rail in a split load CU has it?
Are all the cables in the correct terminals, i.e. is there a N/E reversal?

You need to clarify what is tripping because you're getting answers to the wrong question? Is it the MCB or the RCD?

Hi Guys,

Sorry for the confusion im causing here, shows how much i know !

First news is I have wired directly to a socket and the alarm system works fine, no problems on the board etc...

When i wire vie the fused spur (installed by my electrician for alarm) I turn on the alarm MCB (which by the way says VB06 (06) if that means anything) the RCD trips (labelled RCD VR80)

This might be beyond me but I can at least add any pointer to the electrician, so far he blamed it on the Texecom transformer, which I replaced and it still did the same thing...hence my call on he, seems I will have to try and feed him more info to get this working....

Regards

Sorry if I havent answered all questions, I dont understand them which is a problem !

maybe your electrician had a hangover when he did the job and connected the FCU neutral to the wrong bar in the cu?

im certainly going to ask him to take another look, shame Im having to dig out info, its his job after all !!
