New Worcestor Greenstar 18/25 keeps tripping

Not on acid may i add.

Its a new boiler Oil fired boiler installed few months back never completely tested and signed off because the ******/low down scumbag did a runner before he completed the work.
That aside it keeps cutting out now, i have to go outside take the cover off and hit the flu reset button. Any idea what this might be?

The flue is obviously getting hot. Is there any obstruction in front of it? Is there any obstruction to the air intake? Has it been smoking? Is it sooted up? (most likely).
Remove the secondary heat exchanger cover and probably the cause will be revealed.

Hi Oilhead thankyou v much for a prompt reply here. Yes i noticed it smoking a bit after starting her back up from 3/4 weeks offline as we ran out of oil. No idea how i remove secondary heat exchanger cover is it easy, otherwise we have worcester bosch engineer out tomorrow now seems we are covered under warranty.

Boiler not set up properly at start get engineer in with pressure gauge smoke pump and flue gas analyser but sounds like it needs a clean out.good luck.Bob

Fyi had worcestor Bosch engineer visit who discovered boiler plumbed wrong way on flow and return which apparently is causing it to cut out.
That's the Muppet plumber... grrr

flow and return being reversed would not cause it to cut out, might cause a noise nuisance at rad valves if TRVs are fitted,but wouldnt cause the boiler to cut out

Ok that's interesting thanks Ian this was worcestor bosch engineer. Original issue was flu overheat cut out on boiler. Now I'm confused as to who knows what they're doing.

If the water is flowing the wrong way through the boiler and the boiler has sensors monitoring the rise of temperature from in flow to out flow then the temperature algorithm will be confused ( in flow hotter than out flow ). This could ( should ) create a fault shut down.

yet again you are typing shoite Benny boy, pipes are pipes they do not know which way the water should be flowing, some TRVs are not kind to reversed flow but pipes , radiators and fittings are not that smart, a bit like your good self,this boiler has an external circulator which can be fitted on the flow or the return as long as it is fitted in the correct orientation the boiler will not be affected

Did you miss the bit about sensors measuring the temperature of water ehtering the boiler and the temperature of water leaving the boiler ?

The pipes don't know but if this type of boiler has sensors the detect the rise in temperature of water flowing in the correct direction through the boiler then the boiler will know and may consider there to be a fault requiring it to shut down.

The boiler is tripping out the flue sensor, so temperature algorhythms may cause other problems, but if the boiler is flowing out through the secondary heat exchanger, then I can see how it may overheat the flue sensor. I don't know what temperature it trips at, but a flow of 80c through a high recovery unit could soon trip it.
