I've never really used a jigsaw much - I had a (very) old and cheap Bosch mains powered one which was pretty awful.
But for a new project I wanted a new jigsaw so got a Makita DJV182 to go with the rest of my Makita 18V kit.
My very simple question is this: What on earth is the wire loop in front of the blade for?
All modern jigsaws seem to have them (my old one did not), and yet no manual or user guide mentions them. IS it simply meant to be some kind of guide? So you can judge where the blade is? If so, doesn't seem particularly useful or accurate. Or is it for something else? I cannot figure out what use it is?
Thanks
