Simple leave your old carpet in situ and fully bond your solid oak wood flooring on to it with adhesive!

Very nice for bugs and smells!

(Some times you do wonder what ever will be next?)

According to our new clients the previous owner of their home thought it an excellent idea.

They had to lift the wood floor - due to water damage - and discovered their 'subfloor'

Well, there's a first time for everything!

I have seen a few floating floors fitted over carpet/underlay/gripper!
One day we turned up at a client's home who apologised for not vacuum cleaning the carpet in the room we had to install a new wood floor in ;)
Eh.... well, the plan was you should have removed the carpet, not clean it!

(Our order confirmation tells them to make sure the underfloor is clean and grease free, might have caused the confusion ?!?)

how many of your customers actually remove tha old floorcoverings for you woody? We always tell them they have to when we sell the new flooring and its written on there order form but i would say only 30% do this. We also offer a service to remove the old stuff for the customer at a charge IF they are capable of doing it themselves but most say "no, we will do it" but they have not when we get there!

Your guarranted tho that the old dear in her 90's that you said not to try a remove it but 'we' will do it FREE of charge has always got the carpet up along with moving there Grand piano on there own etc!

Roughly 95% - except that old lady of course, where we - like you - offer this for free - without a grumble.
In our quotation and order confirmation we tell a bit more about the why: so they can discover any 'imperfections' of the underfloor and have time to solve it - works a treat.

must just be birmingham people who cant be bothered! We even have few that leave or there best china and stuff in there side boards etc even tho we have explained THEY have to empty the room unless they are not capable. Comes to th epoint where we just get on and move the stuff tho other wise we have fitters to pay that have not done any work. And they will refuse to pay extra charges, even for things like broken floorboards etc that we find on moving there stuff. We even get a couple of people trying to offer less money than we quoted for after finishing the job.

We sometimes also find furniture in rooms, but mostly it has been discussed upfront with the client - on delivery of the materials a few days prior to installation what has to be done and if there's someone around the give a hand to move them on the day we start installation then some heavier pieces can be left there.

Must say: works very well for us.

And, fortunately we never get those discussions about paying less than agreed upfront (signed order confirmation might have something to do with it). We do sometimes receive some bottles of wine or some pocket money for the fitter at the end ;)
