Newly laid lawn.

Hi,
I have recently laid a new lawn. I have laid it in 2 sections of the garden. The first section that was laid has come brilliant, knitted together lovely. The other section is about 6 inches higher a looks awful. The grass appearsz to be dead in places, brown haylike patches. I watered the garden every other night. Can abyone please help. Will I have to relay it.

Could be a dog, or to be more precise a bitch peeing on you lawn or it could be problems with leatherjackets http://www.dgsgardening.btinternet.co.uk/leatherj.htm or chafer grubs http://www.greengardener.co.uk/chafer.htm. They eat the roots and leave these round dead patches. You may have just been unlucky with your turf. You could try seeding the brown patches if they don't repsond you either re lay it or make do.
