I have just had the bedroom skimmed with multi finish plaster.How long before I can paint it?Is there any preparation I need to do first or can I just use a watered down emulsion as a base coat and then finish with topcoat.Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
If its just a skim and the room is fairly warm then it should go off in about three days..just look for the plaster to turn pale pink.
Dont rub it down...just run a scraper over it to get rid of any plaster splashes and nibs then mist coat it..after that you can rub the whole of the walls down with 100 grade paper..do any filling you need to do, then coat it up twice.
