Kev and Bengy, your views not required as you seem intent on rubbishing all I post.

Situation now is that we have an Alpha 280e providing hot water and ch into the expanded property. The boiler is technically "just" on top of the job, and after being recomissioned yesterday is heating the property up very smartly.

The HW performance however appears abissmal, not the reason we origionally thought the boiler would need replacing, but ..................

Reviews and recs for all we've looked at seem very mixed. Any defo's or avoids?

System will handle up to 40kw

the info you have provided is a bit sketchy, what is the problem with your hot water, is it taking too long to run a bath or is the hot water going hot/cold/hot /cold?

the alpha 280e is a very large boiler, cant think why, in a new install, its dhw performance would be poor

post back some more details

Please excuse Kevp , I'll deal with him shortly

It's not a new install, it is the boiler in the property when we bought it.

Now a 17 rad 5 bed house. All heating good but the HW is not acceptable, contant temp, but poor flow. Temp roughly ok, ie not to hot/scalding risk.

No issues with the CH system

My 13 year old glow worm combi has better hw performance than thisis better than this

sadly the 280e only has a flowrate of 11.8 litres per minute@35 deg C rise, probably the poorest flowrate of any 35 kw boiler ever produced.

tend to see these fitted by "property developers" looking for big n cheap or cowboys who pick em up from diy sheds with no questions asked

before you started your extension, did you measure static water mains pressure, dynamic water mains pressure and flow rate?

what is the lateral length of dhw pipework? big long runs, or battered in with speedfit?

was the flow rate ok before the builders came in?

Sorry did reply earlier but must have not confirmed, anyway;

Thanks for the HW figure, confirms what I thought.

Did not measure pressure but CW pressure is very good

Only old system that is at present unaltered and run in 15mm copper is available to test, rest is in 15mm speedfit but at 1st fix stage. Probably 8mtrs to bath tap, very low flow but good temp.

As said the HW is as prior nto the builders arrival, we were worried about the CH output, but that seem fine, HW is pathetically not ;)

Was thinking about a Baxi Platinum Gas Combi Boiler 40KW ??????

might have to do your mythical installer a drawing

considering the problems he seems to have with pipe sizing

So what are the problems you speak of Kevin???

Mythical installer??? No, just trying to find one with a braincell

EDITED,
Have to go now. Have a life, unlike you sadboy.

We can continue this tomorrow if you desire, wouldn't advise it tho' as your last few posts have been total tosh.
