Nigel Farage and Makerfield

At least he hasn’t had to go begging for some other millionaire to pay for his suits and spectacles in return for free access to Downing Street.
I don't think anyone has ever seen the receipts for the specs and suits. It was just a lump of money, the supposed purposes were just excuses. I doubt any tax was paid on this income either.

Starmer registered the gifts with the appropriate people and in the allotted time frame.
There was nothing dodgy about it. It was just seen as hypocritical to cut allowances or benefits while wearing high end free clothes.
Despite many politicians and PMs before them doing exactly the same.
He paid the required tax on those donations.

They were presented as expense payments, so wouldn't have been taxed as income.

But we don't know whether he actually bought anything. Also clothes aren't an allowable expense, unless your job requires special clothing, e.g. fireproof overalls for a welder. A suit to be a politician is not an allowable expense.

But we don't know how they were accounted for, along with all his other freebies and gifts. All shrouded in secrecy of course.

More uninformed waffle and daub.

What business is that of yours?
Who's the "we"?

No-one suggested it was. Strawman arguments.

If I was loaded and had a spare £5m I'd give it to Farage, and I wouldn't want anything back in return.

Rich people have always splashed out on good things for their community, it's nothing new. I grew up in a mill town that boomed in the Victorian era. There are parks and lavish public buildings all over the place, all named after the blokes who paid for them to be built. Including the school I went to.

Good on him, he got rich and decided to do some good with his money.

But if Starmer receives a free suit it's corrupt. That £5,000,000 was a bribe to influence policy. Wasted money if you ask me because Farage will sabotage Reform's chances of winning a GE because he hates scrutiny and always comes across as an angry petulant child when asked uncomfortable questions.

You should read your own links:
His own gifts were registered with the appropriate body in good time.

I can easily understand how a busy working person does not monitor his wife's clothing additions. And the wife, not being a MP, would not be aware of the requirement for her to advise the appropriate body.

Interesting comment by Jennrick who disagrees with Farrage when he said his £5million gift is none of anyone’s business . There is an opportunity through parliamentary process to discipline Nige and force a by election. His thin skinned arrogance might just get him out of Parliament.
