Hello everyone, Hope you are well & can help with my problem,

I've been having intermittent trouble starting my 1997 k11 Nissan Micra 998cc (70 000 miles), but only when it is warm.

I'll stop & pop somewhere then when I return it won't start, I'll turn the key & the engine will fire but then cut out immediately. This only happens when it is warm (coolant temp above minimum), when it's cold it starts first time. I can turn the key many times before it eventually goes, then it drives ok as if nothing was ever wrong. Pushing accelerator doesn't help. I've not had any issues with it stalling or cutting out whilst driving or at junctions etc & it idles fine. (This is only an intermittent problem so I can't really take it to a garage as I will look silly when it fires into life!)

I've changed ignition parts (plugs, air filter, leads, distributer cap, rotor arm) & I keep it sprayed regularly with WD40 (other products available).

My other ideas are:
Immobiliser problem? (sometimes it will start using the spare key?)
Fuses? (I know these can corrode but which one's should I check?)
Fuel pump? (I get the whirring sound ok when I turn ignition on)
Throttle bodies?

Although the car is old I've had it for 7 years & taken it from 30000 to 70000 miles pretty much trouble free & I think it's a great little car - except for this. Any help / advice or suggestions would be gratefully received.

Thank you

The K11 has suffered from flooding problems (excess fuel) at various times during its development......the usual advice is to replace the coolant temperature sensor (with a genuine Nissan item) and there is also a modified wiring loom to the CTS available.
