Nissan Serena revs

I have a Nissan Serena 1.6 GX 1998, and I have noticed an increase in petrol consumption over this last year.

The revs are slightly high when idle, I have checked the accelerator cable which does not stick, I have also checked that the clutch is not slipping.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

coolant temp sensor may be overfueling the engine.

Makes sense what you suggest, I will get a mechanic to check it for me and hope it is the sensor.

Hi everyone, sorry for the rather late reply, the problem was solved by replacing new spark plugs with the gap already set, goes like a dream.
