I replaced the rear pads on our Xtrail today, the new Pagid pads came with the anti squeal backing on them and no extra shims.
The Trw pads I removed had a thick removable shim plus the stainless thin one that clipped over them.
I was a bit unsure if the stainless one was to be reused so I fitted it over the new pads and it seemed to fit well.
Just wondered if anyone knows which shims should be reused if any, I’m not too familiar with Nissan stuff.

I know exactly what you mean, and I doubt if Nissan would know either!
I fit the thin shaped stainless shim, ceramic grease applied, onto the new pad and bolt them up.
Ive never had any problems with squeal or anything else.

I quite agree......some pad kits come complete, some don't. However, at least replacements are widely available, should one go missing.
I like to see the top and bottom shims nice and clean - it allows the pad to slide nicely into place.
I've always considered Nissan rear pads to be on the smallish size, but they work well enough - so I guess they know best!

I'd like to get a tin of ceramic brake grease as it's much easier to apply with a brush.
What do you guys use?
I don't really want white coloured but maybe that's all it comes in?
The Textar ceratec I've been using from a tube is more of a brown colour.

Its the white Granville ceramic stuff for me - it stays where Coppaslip washes off.
Wire brushing the wheel centre and applying the stuff there is also a good move.
John:)
