Hi, my elderly mother enjoys a lot of TV programmes that clash and therefore does a lot of recording to be able to see all of them.
Her TV is connected to a Humax PVR (as well as a VHS/DVD player). It's not a smart TV and she's had all of the equipment for about 15 years.
What she normally does is go into the Samsung TV, press "source" on the TV remote, and then go to the HDM12 option, press that and then go on to record. Now when she presses that option, it says "no signal".
Her TV works fine, although there's been a white horizontal line at the very top of the screen for a while.
I've done a few things recommended on a YouTube video, pulled out the HDML lead connecting the TV and Humax, dusted the ends and the ports etc, put them back in, no joy.
Then rang what seems to be a good family run TV repair place. They said they could come round and take the TV back to their workshop and check it out for £55.
I'm just wondering:
1. I assume if it's a signal problem, they're right to want to check the TV? I sort of expected someone to be looking at all of the equipment and connecting leads in her house?
2. Would you just get a new TV rather than faffing about with repairs?
Thanks in advance!
