No hot water without central heating on

Please excuse my naivety but I think I may have a motorised valve problem (having read a similar thread).

I have a "Range Powermax 155" combi boiler, which was installed about 5 years ago in my "new build" flat. Since about a month now, I can only get hot water from the tap if the CH is on with the burner light on despite the HW being set to 24HR on the programmer. Is this a MV problem? How do I find out?

DO a search on "diaphragm" - standard thing.

In combis it is called a diverter, same function though albeit with a different way of activating the valve

Thanks for the advice. Has anyone got any ideas on how to locate said diverter? I am a complete novice when it comes to boilers so should I call in British Gas or is it worth a stab myself?
