Hi

I turned off my boiler today to drain down my central heating to fit a new pump, but now the boiler doesnt seem to be its usual self, it lights up for about 20 secs at a time and I have no hot water from the taps. The boiler is supposed to heat the water which is stored in a cylinder in my loft, then the hot taps pull the hot water from that.

Could it be air in the system?

Did you bleed air out of the pump?

Did you open both pump valves? Sometimes they break off inside!

See FAQ !

Our hot water is gravity fed, but the central heating is controlled by a seperate pump. Somebody recommended I back flush the system to push the air out back through the system?!

Will this work, probably?

sounds like a air lock, id try blowing the cold main through the hot for about 30 secs, but make sur ur cylinder isnt a primatic one as u may blow the air gap.
