No hot water

Our immersion heater has suddenly stopped working - no hot water.
When I turned by oil boiler on I get hot radiators but again no hot water.
Does any one have any ideas what might be wrong, I would like to have some suggestions before I call in help so I know what they are talking about and wont get ripped off.javascript:emoticon('')

Before panicking about getting ripped of, you might like to post some pertinent information about the system you have.

If you don't know, then research this site so that you know what you are looking for and then return here with your findings.

Boiler?
Control valves?
Thermostats?
time clocks?
Service history?
Last oil top up date?

Telephone numbers of any daughters of age...

Any info really.

Do you mean no water comes out of the hot tap at all, or just no hot water?
If no water at all, check the large tank in the loft is actually filling up.

I think he means the water coms out of the hot tap but its cold!

Pity the schools dont teach how to write clearly!
