No Light!

i have a double switch. Switch one is connected to an outside light. This light switches on correctly. I have a problem with switch two. I have the red to com and black to L1 but when i switch i get no light. It is a two way switch but i am not using this function. I know the light works because if i connect over switch 1's wiring i get light.

we have just moved in and its been there forever as far as im aware. ido you know if i can come of the existing wire for the outside light to use in the hallway, also can i use twin and earth?

I have brought new cable today and tried to wire up the light to the second switch - but still i am unsuccessful.

have you got a little "jumper cable" linking both commons together?
if the light works when you connect it to s1 it tells me you do not have "live" on s2
