Hi all
I'm posting this on behalf of my dad who is looking to purchase a timer that will run off a 12 volt battery.
The timer is to power a small motor.
I have done a google search with no luck.
Can anyone point me in the right direction & give me the name of a site that sells them.

Regards

Any chance of more information? Asking for 'a timer' is quite vague. Does he want something that will turn the motor on/off at pre-set times during the day, a timer that will run for X minutes after pressing a button, a timer that delays for Y seconds...?

Siemens logo covers most eventuallities but is a bit pricey.

Hi
It is a timer that will start up & turn off a motor at preset times during the day. (for 10 seconds , twice a day).

Have checked Maplin, no luck there.

Thanks

Have a look on fleabay for a Siemens Logo 12/24V DC. They are easier to program using a computer lead and the Siemens LOGO software if possible, but are aparrently programmable using the front keys.

Hi
are they not expensive as you say. My dad has been quoted by someone in local shop at 30 quid, but he'd have to wait a fortnight..
Was hoping there was an online warehouse type store that may have one!

Just a simple timer that runs off a 12v battery to power a small motor as i said above at intervals.

thanks

12Volt analogue car clock from the car breakers, or a AA battery powered quartz clock movement from fleabay (about £1 each). replace hands with cam plate & microswitch

Microswitch to start motor, another microswitch on motor to stop at end of the motor cycle.
Arrange mechanism to reset mechanically or electrically when clock switch releases?

Or build your own timer based on '555' timer ICs to drive a miniature relay?

i think its for a rotating pidgeon decoy machine.
Thanks tickly, i'll show him this thread & that link.
I've tried Maplin, rswww & skinflinters & all come up with nothing. Does anyone know of any links to a sight that may sell them.

Thanks

as said above, i think. To be put in a field & it has decoy pidgeons attached to it's 4 aluminium arms & they rotate periodically.

I wouldn't call them lazy mate they're just not as smart as you

dont think the 3 links are what the guy is after, and to be honest it sound a little specialist, correct me if Im wrong but we are looking for a timer that the guy can just stick a battery in, set the time and away we go. the links you posted run from a cigarette lighter ithin the car.

Have you tried RS mate?

12 volt battery = car battery...

just cut the plugs off and use the 2 wires into connector blocks, or crimp connectors to the battery..

yes mate I know a car battery is 12v but I figure people want things that require no modifications, how long would a battery last as a timer anyway, a month 6 months year maybe
