No tape on plasterboard joint

What would happen if a friend forgot to put tape over a plasterboard joint before skimming it?

Straight joins and corners

2 layers of ready mix plaster.....looks smooth and ready to be rubbed then painted.....will be wallpapered in the end.

Obviously asking for a friend

Just give it a really good rub down then start again with tape?
