it is easiest and quickest to swap a new one in. you want the brass one with a plastic bridge over the top to spray the water downwards. you can get a repair kit to change the working parts in the old one, but I recommend you do this after you have fitted the new one. then you can put the repaired one in a plastic bag and leave it next to the tank ready for next time.
