Hi,

I've just moved to a house which has an unvented cylinder in the airing cupboard. I'm wondering if the noises it makes are normal. With both the boiler and immersion heater turned off, the cylinder continues to emit noise throughout the night. It's sounds like a continuous churning noise (maybe the sound of water constantly circulating around the tank).

Could anyone tell me if this is normal for an unvented cylinder?

Thanks,

Paul.

With no water being drawn then it should be completely quiet.

Sounds as if the T&P valve may be leaking!

Unventeds need a qualified person to work on them.

Maybe the valve is stuck and the pump is running, or someone left the immersion heater on

Sounds like it's not functioning correctly then. Just wanted to make sure before calling someone out to look at it. Thanks for the replies.
