can anyone help me work out why my hot water cylinder is making crackling noises?
It only happens when hot water is on and only when hot water has reached temperature, not when I first turn it on. As soon as it turns off (on reaching temp) the noise stops
As well as the strange cracking noises, I can hear hissing noises from the pipes nearby and this too only happens after water has been on for a while and is reaching temperature.
This doesn't happen with the central heating so I don't think it is anything to do with the pump but I may be wrong? and I have checked the bleed valve located between 3 port valve and cylinder - no air
Checked f and e tank and no water coming out of pipe that bends over the tank. If I take some water out (with heating having been off for a while) it fills up as usual from the tap bit at the end of the ball cock.
Plumber came and had a look and of course it wouldn't make the noise when he was here as it was at the start of the water heating cycle.
He did notice the thermostat on the cylinder wouldn't turn so he replaced that with a new one but still the noise persists
Any thoughts?
