noisy radiator

Hi,
I live in halls of residence as university and for the past few weeks everytime the heating comes on in my room, it makes lots of noises for about 10 minutes or so. I can't control when it comes on, as students have no access to the timers, and even when my radiator is turned off the noise is enough to wake me. Is this just the system warming up or is it a sing of a problem? I think the reason that it's only been noticeable for the past few weeks is because the heating has been put on timer, rather than on all the time. Any comments would be great, thanks

I should bring it to the attention of the Janitor or whoever looks after the halls.... If it is too bad then complain, you should not be awakened like that ... You are a paying customer not a charitable case !! Tis costly enough as it is !
