Since I installed my shower pump about 6 months ago, it has always made a kind of quiet screaching noise when it is in use, almost like the bearings have already worn out? Is this normal?

OK, I know the sound quality on this clip isn't great, but I hope you get the idea. To give you an idea of the relative volume, it's probably slightly less than talking levels. It's not loud, but it is certainly very noticeable when it turns out. Especially in the mornings when everyone is asleep and i take a shower!

I've pretty much eliminated all vibration noise through use of rubber mounts etc, but would replacing the shower pump remove this bearing noise as well?

Kind regards

Chris.

Yep they are known for being noisy and give off a high pitch tone.

solutions are get rid of it fit a 22mm pump use centrifugal style pump like this for quietest.http://www.tapstore.com/acatalog/QT45_Twin_Shower_Pump_1_20bar.html

or if you have to stick to 15mm pipes usehttp://www.tapstore.com/acatalog/Right_twin_pump_1_30bar.html

both are much quieter and deliver larger flow rate you will have to fit an flange though as they do not like air in the water.

you can always flog your old one on ebay I am sure you will see lots on there.

So you're saying that Salamander Pumps are quieter than Stuart Turner pumps? Funny cos before I bought the pump I was told the opposite!
Who ever told you the opposite was a tw*t

Some salamander pumps are noisy likewise some techflow pumps are noisy you see its down to two things mainly pipe size 15mm pumps are noisy and regenerative pumps are noisy.

Standard Stuart Turner shower pumps are all regenerative and nowhere do they claim to be quiet there are many benifits to a Stuart Turner pump but being quiet is not one of them.

There is one Stuart turner pump on our web site which is one that I sell a lot of its the 3.0bar brass ended pump builders love them because they dont have to read the instructions and they will still work :)

I do also sell the New Team jetforce 55 and 75 and lots of them they are really a Stuart turner if you look at the link you will see the resemblance http://www.tapstore.com/acatalog/New_Team_Jetforce_55_Pump.html
If you as a customer asked me if there quiet my answer would still be no.
