Hi,

I had my Vaillant boiler installed, over 2 years ago.

I have noticed when there is less demand for heating or hot water, the boiler reduces in the amount of gas it takes, down to 1 digital bar or less and then it starts making this really weird sound. The sound only goes away if I increase the boiler temperature, in which case the digital bars on the screen go higher, i.e. it takes more gas and hence the sound goes, or alternatively if I turn off the boiler, the sound will go.

Is there anything I can do to stop this weird sound, apart from increasing the temperature?
I am worried as we have the heating on at night and I don't want anything dangerous to occur.

The pressure (in bar) is water pressure not gas. Expansion when hot means it goes up.

Noise could be because the gas valve needs adjusting. Corgi job. Only some corgis, at that.

He means the digital display on the front of the boiler Chris.

This shows more bars as the boiler is modulating lower or higher.

e.g. full bars = boiler is flat out.

Could be lots of things unfortunately, from a fan bearing to gas mixture not set right.

When was the last time it was serviced? These boilers need max co2 set then the offset set at 0.2% less.
