Is there any way to insulate a water pump so that it runs more quietly without interefering with the ventilation and so avoid it over heating?

Electric motors get hot and need ventilation to cool. If you insulate an electric motor it might overheat. However you could try sound insulation (not the same as heat insulation) which might involve placing the pump (shower?) on a rubber mat. You ought to get someone to check why the pump is so noisy in the first place. Is in properly installed?

thanks

I assume it was properly installed. It has been fixed to a block of wood and screwed to the floor
