Hi guys, we have inherited an out-of-contract ADT galaxy 2-12 house alarm with the house we have bought. We're not wanting to change a great deal with it as we have the user code for it, but it makes a phone call to ADT every night which is gradually costing us a fortune.

We'd like to reset the engineers code to a default so that we can re-programme it NOT to dial the number every night. Does anyone know how we can do this? Thanks!

Hi, this can be done, but requires a level of technical capability. Defaulting methods are unlikely to be posted in open forum.

Depending on how it is installed, you could always disconnect the phone line part... and then get a non ADT engineer in to resolve any other issues you want (most prob require a full reset but they will know what they need to do!)

The default settings on the Galaxy are set to monitor the phone line voltage. Any disconnect of the line will result in a fault. This would then require the engineer code to resolve.

Thanks for your help SOCdesign. It's great to get on top of the problem and we really appreciated your professional advice (not to mention your patience with us while we figured it all out!) Cheers!
