Hi guys,

I have a room to paint which at the moment is painted black with spaceships and stuff painted onto the black with different emulsions.

I have tried to go over it with a thick white basecoat that I got, and it covers the black great, but as soon as I go over the bright colors they begin to run into the white. Then if I a rolling over my cutting.. which has had a little time to partially dry.. the roller just rips it down to the bright color underneath which has itself become wet again!

Augh.. At the moment I have one wall painted with basecoat but with many bright colors still showing through and running into the basecoat... I don't know what to do.

Any help is apreciated!!

The application of one emulsion over another should'nt cause one to run into the other, I think perhaps your best option would be to apply a thinned coat of oil based undercoat before you continue with your emulsion.

Thanks!

Well I don't know what this basecoat I got really is.. It says on the tin it's supposed to be able to cover anything!!! Clearly not the case.

Because I've got the paint already... Im gonna see tomorrow if I can apply a 2nd coat.. hopefully that will eliminate the running.

If it runs that easily wash it with detergent and water and scrub it off. It's probably poster paint.

Also, if the poster paint has been painted on top of the black you'll see an embossed outline when the wall is dry.
