NOOB. rendering an interior wall patch up

Hi everyone. I offered to help render my mams interior wall. It's just a patch roughly 900mm by 1500mm onto brick. So I was looking for some tips like
should I use sharp sand?
how long should I wait in between scratch coat and putting the second on?
what consistency should I get the sand and cement?
I'm sure there's others I've missed so feel free to help!
