His obituary revealed the helping hand he received from John Lee Hooker, supporting him on tour then recording an album with the great Bluesman. Everyone knows of the influence from Peter Green on the British blues scene but Tony McPhee's one of the unsung pioneers of the Blues in Britain, working and influencing all kinds of more famous musicians.
 
A survivor of sex scandals, fraud and corruption inquiries, a complete player, came back against the odds, wouldn't get that in British politics.
