Can't get at enough of the conduit to earth it. have to replace it. chisel in to plaster, following conduit:-

Why oh why did they do it like that? theres absolutely no reason not to go vertically up from the switch. Just more work for me now. Bar stewards.

Is that not a lintel or beam of some sort directly above the switch?

nah, it's the top of the stairs. i can route up right next to it, it doesn't foul on anything. just annoying that for some random reason the original installers decided to do a stupid diagonal.
