Notifiable works?

Is changing a one-way switched lighting circuit in a hallway into a two-way switched circuit notifiable? All I'm going to do is run a 3 core T&E from the existing switch to another new one.

Try reading This it is likely you will not need to notify but all too easy to miss something so better if you read the document yourself.

Which, given this:

If that's the case, why are the Approved Documents produced? What's their purpose if it's not to explain the law to interested tradesmen rather than to lawyers?

You're correct, as it is easy to miss something and at least this way I only have myself to blame if I read it incorrectly.

Approved Documents are intended to provide
guidance for some of the more common building
situations. However, there may well be alternative
ways of achieving compliance with the
requirements. Thus there is no obligation to
adopt any particular solution contained in an
Approved Document if you prefer to meet the
relevant requirement in some other way.

Anybody who wants or needs to know what the law actually requires should read the actual law.

Except the law isnt written for the average person to understand its written for lawyers etc, which is why guidance notes exist.

Schedule 2B is perfectly easy to understand.

So easy, in fact, that I'd venture to suggest that anybody without the intellectual ability to understand it is probably not cut out to be an electrician.
