Now that is how you put in a lintel

This is on a house we are working on at the moment. Surely that ain’t right?!

Ah ok. So how do they work, as in which part of the lintel sits on what?
 
The load is transferred to the inner leaf but if the lintel is badly installed or the bearing is inadequate then they can rotate

In the 50's and 60's it was common for a single concrete lintel to be cast bearing on the inner leaf, with the toe projecting to hold the outer leaf.
