I just noticed on my NPower account that they conducted a safety check back in October.

They didn't notify me about this.

I did come home to find the electric had been off one day.

Any idea what they do? (my meter is outside).

I am surprised about the meter reading entered by them (9kW in 2 days), as I had only read it 2 days previous.

Did they check to see if the meter was counting correctly? (I'm a low user)

They would probably lie to me.

They would probably tell me, my safety is the up most importance to them.

Checking security of the connections at the meter terminals as well as inspecting for any obvious physical damage and possibly under the guise of health & safety reasons told they're not allowed to remove the meter's terminal cover without disconnecting power from it first, perhaps? Or maybe even network replacements resulting in going around the neighborhood checking polarity and loop impedances?

Probably yes to both, but they were there, I doubt if anyone on here was. I agree that 9kWh in 2 days seems high if you're a low user.
