Hi all,

ive just had some white oak handrails fitted (internally) and need to treat them.

I want to keep them looking as natural as possible and would be grateful for advice on what to use. eg. wax, varnish etc.

Also whats the best way to get them as smooth as possible?

Any help appreciated.

Any varnish or wax will always affect the colour, so proceed with caution.
personally ,I would use a clear wax, rubbing in and off when dry. perhaps as many as five coats, finally buffing hard. I also find scrim is perfect for this.
