Hi guys,

Happy new year.

Have got a new oak handrail.

It hasn't been vanished yet as waiting to get the landing etc decorated first.

I've noticed a small nick out of the wood. Attached photos. Its only about 1mm deep.

What the best way to deal with it?

Sand it or fill it?

Or leave it

Also how should it be vanished etc. Can the decorator take care of it for me?

Thanks
Paul

I would sand it with long strokes, so that rather than creating a smoother pit, you make a long area that slowly goes down and back up, so the difference isn't noticeable. I know what I mean but hard to explain

I would also wrap it in clingfilm or something to stop dirt getting into the grain before sealing

Thanks. I think I know what you mean.

Is it worth me leaving it to whoever is going to vanish it?
