Hi guys,
Last week I was given some parquet flooring which was a little damp as it had simply been stored outside in tonne sacks. I gave the chap £20 for it, even thought he didn`t ask for anything. There is about 160 blocks well well enough for my small 1.4 x 1.6m porch floor. I stacked the blocks up in my porch and had an electric heater blowing on them for a few days until they were touch dry and then have left them sat there since. They seem dry now but I just wanted to check they are useable. I would hate to go through with the project included spending any time cleaning them up as I intended to start doing over the next few days, only to find out they are not useable. The blocks are apparently reclaimed from a local city council office which I expect are well well over 60 years, maybe many more. My test block has cleaned up really well this evening so they do look very good. Would be a real shame if I have just purchased fire wood since they look great!!
I am fearing the worse, hence my message!
Just a secondary question - the blocks are not T&G, but instead have a groove all the way around. I presume the groove is so they can be invisably nailed down?? Do they just butt up next to each other... is this even more of a pain to lay?
Any info would be appreciated - especially if there is any simple way I can make them useable.
Chris
