The Iran crisis put paid to JCs second term chances, I agree he seemed a decent man
I have no time for him, he's well known for being anti-British which also handled the BP oil spill badly. BP oil is the biggest UK taxpayer so tried so hard to destroyed our UK company, not even a apologies for getting it wrong. The sooner USA get rid of him the better

Can give me some background on this I am genuinely interested, I have read quite a few accounts of the crisis
I remember that it was the Iranians alone who only released them after Carter was out of office, Carter went out to meet them and got a right slagging off. Once the shah was gone the Yanks didn't have any power over Iran. Yanks even armed Saddam against Iran (Rumsfeld was an old buddy of Saddam), how these things are forgotten.

Aye it's a funny old world.
What is poorly understood is that US Presidents actually have limited power within the US, most of the domestic powers belong to Congress (though the pres does have to agree).
So these US presidents get their votes by banging on about how they will fix America. Then they get in, Congress tells them where to jump, and they realise their only real power is in telling the rest of the world what to do. So that's what happens.
Obama inherited a bankrupt country with not enough cash to invade anywhere else. Also he is a Democrat, and the Republicans are the traditional warmongers, and Democrats tend to be more hush hush in their approach to international affairs.
But you can be sure he puts US interests way above all others (well Israel, China and Saudi Arabia can change US foreign policy, no other country can) but he's just carrying out US imperialism on the quiet. He isn't our friend unless it suits him.

All the presidents are puppets for the good old USA.. whoever come into office at the time when Obama did was in for a really rough ride due to the world economy..in my view no other candidate could have done ay better or worse than he has
