Odd door handle issue

Hello, i have strange issue with my door handle i have just rebuilt new door to replace a damaged door however i have noticed the handle works fine from the inside and out when the car is already unlocked but as soon as i lock the doors and open again the handle no longer works from the outside until i open it from the inside first then it opens from the outside until i lock the doors again does anyone have any idea whats up please i'm baffled first time building a door any advice is much appreciated thanks

could it be that metal spring needs to be placed in a certain way?

Problem solved changed all the locking mechanism and electrical cable works like a charm now I'm guessing when the damage was done so was the lock
