Odd single gang switch

Hi All again

Sorry to be a nuciance but the wiring is all over the place in my new flat. In my previous post I asked for advice on what dimmer to get. I have got a 2 gang 2way swith. On the wall there are 2 1 gang switch which I wanted to change to the one to make it a bit tidier. When I had a look behind I found there are 2 cables coming out the wall for each switch and the back of the swicth is connected red to L1 red to L2 Black to N1 and Black to N2 plus earths. Can anyone tell me whats going on ?

It sounds like they are 20Amp double pole switches. What size cable is in there and what do they feed.

The cable is Twin core + earth I think 30 rather than lighting cable. All of them seem to be live but there are only 2 sets of downlighters running off them now. one 6 lights total 240 one 5 lights total 200

Do you mean that it's 2.5mm²?

What circuit are these switches on? A lighting one, or a socket one? Are they fused switches, by any chance?

All of them seem to be live

What are you testing them with?

Joe, I don't fully understand you reply, I think you may need to get an electrician in to do a periodic inspection report as it seems that your wiring may be very dodgy. Some pictures may help clarify matters though.
