Odd size for main beam?

As with any online calculator or dodgy program, crap in = crap out.

Yes you can put whatever figures you like in and get "pass" certificate, or you can get the biggest mofo beam across your front room.

But ideally you need to know what and why you are inputting, and also that if the beam does actually hold stuff up, the walls will in turn hold the beam up.

Agreed. I put in the same details my SE entered in his calculations. I would not want to do it from scratch! I just then chose a more suitably sized beam for my needs.
