Oh No - It's Raining On My Newly Laid Bricks!!!

Hi All,

Laid the last of my brickwork for our back step yesterday evening about 5ish. It was a lovely sunny day and it didn't cross my mind that it was going to be chucking it down today.

Have got up this morning and it's pouring, I think the bricks have had a good 10 hours in the dry - what's the chances that I'll have to do the whole lot again or should they be ok??

The brickwork will be fine, in fact the rain will only seek to improve the overall strength of the mortar.

However, you may end up with a bit of efflorescent bloom and you may suffer a minuscule degree of shrinkage when they dry out.

Neither of the above will be structurally detrimental.

Phew - cheers Noseall, have been out there today and they are fine - was worried at 7 this morning though!!
