Oil pipe/tank bonding

Went to look at a job this evening and they have an oil tank which will feed a new boiler going into the new extension.

Now, the customer has had it mentioned that the tank should be bonded. But am I correct in thinking it should be the pipe where it enters the building (600mm etc) like the gas main would be.

There currently is no pipe work installed, and not spoke to the plumber to see what pipe will be used to as if it's plastic coated copper, bare metal or full plastic.

But am I right in thinking the tank is out of the equipotential zone and doesn't need a bond do it??

If the tank's outside, it will be out of the equipotential zone, but bond to metalic pipe work entering the building at the most practical point would be required, not necessarily within 600mm of entering the building.

Yes, IF it (the pipe) is an extraneous conductive part.

Test before connecting to boiler.
