Hi all. I've a bit of an issue with my bath taps. I want to remove and replace them but the nut is really stuck and won't turn. I was thinking of cutting the tap from above, around the middle area and was hoping to pull it from underneath. Only thing is I'm not sure whether the base is attached to the rest of the tap or not. Any advice greatly appreciated. I've tried to upload photos to my album for you all to view but not sure if It's the right place for them. Cheers. [GALLERY=media, 74797][/GALLERY]

Don't try cutting from above you are sure to damage the bath.
That nut does not look too bad no sign of corrosion what are you trying to undo it with? Lots of clever bath spanners out there what have you tried so far?

Use WD40 and leave it to work through

Or if you have a multi tool, try use multi tool with narrow metal cutter blade and cut through back nut and snap it off.

Daniel.

I have sprayed Wd40 loads of times and tried a custom fit spanner head welded to a long square tube of metal borrowed from a friend but as said it doesn't budge.

Then I guess the suggestion from stardanny might be the best option the metal blades are for copper or brass so should tackle the nut. They are great tools that make otherwise impossible jobs fairly easy worth treating your self if you are keen on DIY.

Have you tried holding the back nut with a spanner (get someone to help)and then turning the whole tap from above?
