OLD CEMENTED WALL TILES

Help Urgently required, pulling my hair out on how to remove wall tiles in the bathroom which by the looks of things have been cemented/welded into the wall when the house once first built aprox1940's. I've tried removing one tile but only managed to take the surface back to the brick work

If they are the 6x6 ones laid brick bond you will most likely have to go back to the brickwork as they are set into the render coat while its wet - no actual plaster.

Either dot & dab plasterboard to the stripped walls or get them plastered.

Is platerboard ok to use in the bathroom with condensation etc , even though im planning to tile right to the ceiling. Also will the plasterboard take the weight of the tiles.

plasterboard will be ok, but it is wise to use aqua panel, tilebacker or similar, to areas subject to frequent soakings i.e. sower cubicle, bath wall etc.

if you are uncertain about the grab characteristics of dot'n'dab, try a small test area first and see how difficult it is to pull the plasterboard off the wall once it has set.
