Hi everyone, I hope someone can give me some advice.

I am a complete DIY novice. I have just bought a new flat and the electrics appear to be ok however the Electric Sockets have different casings on and some of them look fairly old. What I want to do is change them all to one style.

How hard is it to change these casings and what do I need to do?

Any suggestions would be greatly recieved.

Regards

George

1. You are a novice - how can you be sure, without the nessecary equipment, that the wiring is sound?

2. The fact you have "old style casings" (I bet you mean the old surface-mounted MK sockets with rounded edges etc - can you post a picture?) - suggests that the wiring may - although being aesthetically sound - in fact be quite old and dangerous, and you probably need a rewire.

3. Dont change the sockets without first having an electrician look over and test all the wiring first.
