I have an old cutter iron for a plane that has the words "Reaney Woods Company", "R & W", and "Sheffield" stamped on the blade. I think that this was an English toolmaking company from 1852 - 1865, but I am not sure. There also was a company called "William Reaney & Son". I do not know if they are connnected at all. Can anyone help me with information on this?

On my last question the response was for me to join an American forum which is probably a good idea since most of my questions regard American made tools but I definitely need your help on this question.

Have a look at this forum which is mostly UK based, there are several members who are into old hand tools so may be able to help.

May also be worth asking there about the braces as there are several american members as well.
