Hi!

I removed our fireplace as I have built a media wall with inbuilt electric fire. I am planning replacing the carpet with LVT planks. (carpet is pulled up for the photo) I need to level this area off however. I thought about self levelling compound but the floor has a very slight slope. Or should I just use a fine mortar and level it against the floorboards? It is around 5-10mm lower than the floorboards. Thank you in advance!

I’d fill it flush to floorboards then Dpm resin it.
Then go 9mm plywood over the whole area. Decent quality like sp101 if gluing the LVT down.
