I've got an 10 year old hotpoint washing machine.
The motor started sparking and making strange noises and not turning.
I fiddled around with the wires which seemed lose (didn't move any) and it was okay again for a while.

Now it sparks again and there is smoke coming from the timer/program switch - the red block with all the wires coming in/out.

Do I need a new motor? Is the motor causing the timer to overheat?

If I get a new motor will all be well?

Thanks

Jacks

But the old ones seem so much simpler, more reliable and solid......and I'm sure easier to diy repair

In the end it comes down tp £££'s your choice. Personaly at 10 years old unless I new what the problem was & how much to replace I wouldnt think of a repair.
