Hi. My house has an older type of TRVs and some of them have failed and no longer shut off the heat. The thermostats have a male thread and the valve has a collar with the female thread. Essentially the opposite of any TRV I have ever seen. The brand name on them is Tyco. I would appreciate it if anyone could advise where I could get replacements before I go to the effort of replacing the entire valves.

Cheers, Chris

Just asking.
Have you oiled pin and made sure it moves. I use 3 in 1 oil.
I wash trv is soapy water ever few years. Seems to keep them going as been in since 1992

Assuming these valves are faulty then wait until spring. Drain system and swap for new ones.

It never occurred to me to do that. I will give it a go tomorrow. Thanks

Be careful with pins.
Hold side on gently levering against the back housing with a long nose pliers if stuck in.
I guarantee if you pull the pin it will come out and water will come out the hole. You can sometimes push back in. So think about it. Don't pull pin.
Oil.
Test by pushing in. Should come out again on spring.
They just get stuck in sometimes

It's all a bit academic now. I took one of the thermostats off just now, and the internal plastic threading turned to dust. I will just shut the lockshield for now, ( spare room luckily), and replace them all later. Thanks anyway. Chris
