Hi

I papered my bedroom about a year ago and now I've just noticed that there's a large tear line in it, leading from the window. I'm going to have to repaper that area, but before I take the wallpaper off I want to be prepared for what I might be dealing with. Can anyone give me any ideas?

The house is old, 1930s, but wall ties were put in about 3 years ago so I'm hoping this isn't a big problem.

Thanks

Can you post a picture with a scale - maybe a tape measure laid by it .

Good idea! The scale pic is not great for detail so second pic is better.

Could just be the old 1930's plaster coming a bit loose from the wall. If it sounds hollow in that area compared to the other parts of the wall. Remove the paper carefully NOT a steamer. and maybe it'll need lining paper if you're going to paint it.

Cheers Nige. I really hope that's all it is - you've given me hope! :)
